Mucho Tiempo
Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted anything here. I guess it just hasn't been on my mind, what with the musical (Pippin, which goes up Wednesday[today is Sunday]) looming ever closer and the humanities project about the USSR on Tuesday (full 70 minute presentation, agh), I guess I've just been concentrating a lot on my linguistics hobby rather than the things I should be doing. But I wouldn't want to get rediculously stressed, and Pippin is good and the USSR presentation should be half decent so it's all good. But like I said I've been concentrating on my linguistics hobby.
Linguistics is, quite naturally, the study of language. It just so happens that languages fascinate me so I'd like to learn more about them. Now, I've never really been one for the dry, soulless textbook approach, so it would seem that this would be difficult to learn about, but lucky for me there is a thriving community of other linguistic enthusiasts on the internet that I have found. These people explore their interest in linguistics by creating languages which we call conlangs (constructed languages, we also add the "con" prefix to anything else we have created in relation to our conlangs and conworlds) usually for use by cultures within our conworlds.
My conworld doesn't have a name yet (if you want to see a really developed one check out Virtual Verduria on www.zompist.com) but I'm working slowly, I'm starting with a single language and culture, that of the "primitives" (this is just a label bestowed upon them by colonial nations in my conworld). Last night I finished translating the Babel Text (Genesis 11:1-9) into Proto-Coim (proto because it was spoken by the ancestors of the primitives and coim because that is the proto-coim word for tongue) although I decided I didn't like my Genitive and Accusative cases so those will have to be fixed before I post anything, and I have to type up an english gloss (word by word translation with indicators for verb tense, noun case, and other such things as that) that is understandable to people that aren't me.
But before I do that, I have to do one more thing for the USSR project, send instructions to my group members about the activity and type up an intro for the activity (and maybe a question to open the discussion period afterward). So I'll be off to go do that right now (and go to my dad's [holy shit I used a lot of brackets in this {and nested ones too}]).

So because you're busy obsessed with your new hobby, you can completely ignore the rest of the world, including your msn conversations? Well, knowing you, yes...
Just please don't spend all of christmas holidays (except new years *glare*) being a horribly non-talkative anti-social bastard who doesn't do anything he's been promising to do for the last...well, at least four months. I don't care how fun your linguistic stuff is, you need to complete some other coursework, and do some work on your other projects as well.
good luck on your USSR project. If you do badly, Kiora, Lizie and possibly James will kill you. Just to let you know...
lj/blog hopping from keilah to yours. In keilah's last one I read I was very annoyed. Well now I'm very angry. Good job on your USSR project, i think i'll kill you. No, too far away. No no No, I can't have a mental break down for no reason. Actually I have a reason. I should stop arguing with myself. Back to being violent. There is no truth in the world. if I said It's all a con, it's a con (the world). And if you take is constructed well then who the hell is playing with my mind. I wish you would stop. Not you, just the one who has conned me.
Why is my meaning in life to help people? I dont even like people. WHY? You torture me. they're so cruel. I'm not even very good at it. Pick someone else.
That was nice. I mean it felt nice because now I can go on in ignorance and pretend the world is happy again. Forget that it's rotting from the core outwards. Forget everyone, for they will forget me. just what? peace? If someone could translate what I just wrote into English that makes sense, please tell me. Because I feel very confused and strangly happy now. Good night.
I wouldn't really call that linguistics... take Ling 201/203 in university if you go to the u of c, it's lots of fun even though it's really technical.
